The Latest Updates from Email Service Providers

Email marketing is a powerful tool to reach out to your target audience and grow your business. However, it's important to make sure that your emails comply with the latest updates from email service providers like Google and Yahoo. These updates are designed to improve email deliverability and reduce spam complaints.

To keep your email marketing campaigns successful, here are some tips to help you stay compliant with the latest requirements:

  • Ensure your sender email is domain-based

Avoid using Gmail or Yahoo domains as senders.

  • Ensure you're using branded sending domains.

This means using a dedicated domain that is exclusively used for your email marketing.

  • Configure your DMARC.

Set up DMARC authentication in your DNS provider, such as GoDaddy or Cloudflare. This authentication helps to ensure that your emails are not marked as spam.

If you do not already have a DMARC policy in place, configure a DMARC policy* on your root domain that contains the following: v=DMARC1, p=none
In addition, Klaviyo and Omnisend platforms recommended setting an RUA tag with a valid email address to receive DMARC reports. For example, "rua=mailto:dmarc-reports@mybrand.com"
If you already have a DMARC policy in place, you do not need to change your p-tag value. Just make sure you have an RUA tag set up with a valid email address included in your policy.

  • Align your "from address to your domain.

This means that the domain in your friendly "from" address must match the root domain in your branded sending domain.

  • Make it easy to Unsubscribe.

One of the new sender requirements is that every email must include a one-click unsubscribe link. The good news? Both Klaviyo and Omnisend platforms have made this update to all email templates. In addition, there must be an unsubscribe option in the body of the email as well.

  • Keep your spam complaints low.

Send relevant and valuable content to your subscribers. Avoid using misleading subject lines or sending unsolicited emails.

By following these best practices and staying up-to-date with industry regulations, you can ensure that your email marketing is effective, engaging, and compliant with industry standards.
